Uttan Palli

Uttan Palli is one of the very few places where we see more locals in the traditional outfit than in modern day western outfits. They take great pride in their language, culture and attire.

An old way side cross that has stood in place for more than a hundred years. There are few prominent East Indians who are up in arms against Government Agencies who are pulling down these crosses to make way for "progress", in the process of "road widening". Often records are asked with regards the legality of these cross. It is for us to stand by these, as these are the only remnants, (besides few villages and churches) of a bygone era of East Indians being the majority, if not the only populace surrounding these.

The Our Lady of Lourdes Church with its old hand carved doorframe.
